Famous Scientists and What They Did PreK Science Series Scientists for Kids Preschool Books Children Inventors Books eBook Baby Professor

Physics, Math, Computer Science were my passion and profession so any book that promotes Science in a good way
usually gets a 5-Star from me. Especially good books for kids.
This one falls short but still gets 4-Star (instead of 2 or 3) just because it is an OK starting point in discussing science with kids.

With this quick and easy to read eBook though, I would have loved to see a little more effort put into it.

1. It can put things in perspective by adding the Years those scientists lived.
2. Also, it would have made more sense to order them chronologically. Put Aristotle 1st for example, not half way through the eBook.
3. Some famous names are missing - specifically Einstein (Theory of Gravity), and Bohr/Heisenberg (Quantum Theory)
- Those are 2 of the most phenomenal and incredible breakthroughs of the 20th Century. Where are they?
4. How about Laonardo Da Vinci? oh, and quite a few other trail blazers in Science.
4. How about the Discoverers of the Double-Helix? - Our DNA by Watson and Crick.
5. Adding illustrations or relevant apparatus next to the scientists can help illuminate the mind too. A Telescope for Galileo etc.

Let's hope the next iteration on the subject will deliver more, cover more branches of Science and show things chronologically.

Famous Scientists and What They Did PreK Science Series Scientists for Kids Preschool Books Children Inventors Books eBook Baby Professor Reviews

Famous Scientists and What they Did Pre-K Science Series. Let me just say right off the bat, that I absolutely love Baby Professor books, now they don't all get five stars from me in a review but they are awesome ways for your little one to learn about the world about them.
"A Scientist is a person engaging in a systematic activity to acquire knowledge." This book shows us Isaac Newton and what he studied and what he discovered. Louis Pasteur, Galileo Galilei,Marie Curry, Thomas Edison who was not only a scientist who discovered things but he was also an inventor. Charles Darwin was a man who was an English (England) naturalist and geologist. He formulated the theory of evolution. He established that all species of life have a descended over time from common creatures.
James Clerk Maxwell, Aristotle (this man was from ancient times and he was Greek). John Dalton, Joseph Priestley, Nicolaus Copernicus, Alexander Graham Bell also a scientist as well as inventor. Andre Marie Ampere, Blaise Pascal.
This is a great book that I even learned somethings from. I was not a astute student when I was in Grade School and find these books helpful in remembering and learning new things about all sorts of people.

My grandson is in 2nd grade, is an avid reader, he reads way above his school grade. He told me that vivid pictures allow him to use his imagine to transport him to another place and time. He would love to have this book in print to add to his extensive library, I may have to buy it for him and I am very willing to do so. This book as great illustrations that show us the person they are speaking about.

I only gave this kindle book 4 stars because I think it should be marketed for at least 1st graders. Overall it has some great info. For the 14 scientists mentioned they show a picture of him or her, then the opposite side tells a little about them. The book covers Pascal, Newton, Ampere, Pasteur, Copernicus, Galilei, Curie, Priestley, Edison, Bell, Darwin, Maxwell, Aristotle and Dalton. PROS- manages to squeeze a lot of info into a short book, its to the point, includes pictures of the scientists. CONS- there aren't any pictures to explain the inventions, the wording is too complicated for the targeted age group, doesn't explain what the scientists did in a way that children of this age can understand. Some examples For Curie- It explains she "was a polish and naturalized-French physicist" <kids don't know what naturalized means, nor do they care what the dissent of the person is. It also says in regards to Curie "techniques for isolating radioactive isotopes" <no preschooler I know is going to know what isolating, radioactive or isotopes is or means. Another example of the difficulty is Maxwell- They talk about how he was responsible for the science behind "electromagnetic fields"< kids at that age don't know what that means, a picture to explain would have been great. Also when talking about Pasteur- they explain the Process of pasteurization but its really technical and doesn't explain what pasteurization is even used for or what the purpose is, it would have been helpful again, to have a picture showing a pasteurized food or drink to help explain. My son is in Kindergarten and he is in the gifted program and only some of this book would interest him, like the parts about Bell, Gaililei...those 2 in particular were easier to understand and a little more appropriate for his age. DISCLAIMER I received this product either discounted or for free in exchange for an honest review.
